Lucid Motors has made performance a feature of its upcoming EV, and is challenging Tesla’s Model S directly. It’s already promised the Lucid Air will be with the capacity of sub-10-second quarter mile times, and showed a prototype’s 9 even.9-second run-down the drag strip.
Then Elon Musk exposed pre-orders for the triple-motor ‘Plaid’ Model S sedan, and said 25 % will be done because of it mile in under 9. year 9 seconds when it continues on sale next. To help keep pushing the bar just, CNET Roadshow highlights a tweet from Lucid showing an Air run that took just 9.245 seconds, well beneath the record for a production car. It’s an extraordinary time to be certain, but because they note, as the motor car shown is wearing street-legal Pirelli Trofeo tires, this is a triple-motor development mule with out a full interior. We’ll need to wait and see what more realistic versions of the sedan tend to be more with the capacity of, but in accordance with Motor Trend, Lucid has prepared a version that may go faster already.
Performance testing of the #LucidAir platform continues. Once we push Lucid’s in-house developed EV powertrain tech to new heights, today we share our latest work-in-progress: A 9.245 second 1/4 mile 157 @.26 mph. Keep tuned in for more. pic.twitter.com/7OQQodTjuk
