Xbox test brings Microsoft's Chromium-based Edge browser to consoles

You may finally have reasonable to use the net browser on your own console for a lot more than the bare necessities. The Verge reports that Microsoft has started testing a version of its Chromium-based Edge browser on the Xbox One and Series X/S. Take part in the Alpha Skip-Ahead testing ring and you will get yourself a web experience that’s more based on the modern era, including better syncing and compatibility with Edge across multiple platforms.

This version is unsurprisingly buggy and doesn’t include mouse or keyboard support. And while this permits usage of Google Stadia theoretically, we wouldn’t depend on reliable usage of that or other intensive web apps at this time.

It might take some time before there is a more polished version of the brand new Edge for Xbox. When it’s ready, though, the brand new browser will make an improved case for buying an Xbox if web surfing matters for you. At this time, the PlayStation 5 doesn’t have even an easy to get at browser (you need to depend on tricks to utilize it at all). While which could change, a Chromium-based Xbox browser could give Microsoft a cushty head start.
