STXfilms acquires Daisy Ridley-led The Marsh King’s Daughter
Just over 8 weeks after development on the adaptation of Karen Dionne’s bestselling thriller novel of exactly the same name was announced, STXfilms has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to the Daisy Ridley-led The Marsh King’s Daughter .

Daisy Ridley is ideal for this role and we can’t wait to talk about this film with audiences in the territories we’ve acquired.”

Directed by Neil Burger ( Voyagers ) on a script from Elle and Mark L. Smith ( The Revenant ), the complete story centers around Ridley’s Helena, a female living a ordinary life seemingly, but hiding a dark secret: her father may be the infamous “Marsh King,” the person who kept her and her mother captive in the wilderness for a long time. After a duration of attempting to escape her past, Helena is forced to handle her demons when her father escapes from prison unexpectedly.

The Marsh King’s Daughter is defined to be made by Black Bear’s Schwarzman ( The Imitation Game ), Anonymous Content’s Keith Redmon ( Midnight Sky ) and Mark L. Smith while Black Bear’s Michael Heimler is mounted on executive produce alongside Syndicate Entertainment’s Cliff Roberts and Charles Miller. Black Bear is defined to finance the thriller fully, this June that is set to begin with shooting in Canada.
