    Matt Damon-Led Drama Trailer Released Stillwater

    Focus Features released the debut Stillwater trailer for the upcoming Matt Damon drama. Damon plays an American oil-rig worker in France that’s attempting to free his daughter (played by Abigail Breslin), who has been charged with murder. The Tom McCarthy-directed film releases July 30, 2021, so just a couple months from it releasing in theaters we’re.

    Stillwater  targets Bill Baker (Damon), an American oil-rig roughneck from Oklahoma who travels to Marseille to go to his estranged daughter, who’s in prison for a murder she claims she didn’t commit. Met with language barriers, cultural differences, and an elaborate legal system, Bill builds a fresh life for himself in France as he helps it be his personal mission to exonerate his daughter.

    Alongside Damon ( Ford v. Ferrari, THE FINAL Duel ), the cast for the film includes Academy Award nominee Breslin ( Zombieland: Double Tap, Scream Queens ), César Award nominee Camille Cottin ( Killing Eve, House of Gucci ), and Deanna Dunagan ( The Visit, A SATISFACTORY Loss ).

    McCarthy, who last co-wrote and directed the Disney+ film adaptation of Stephen Pastis’  Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made , directs the film on a script he co-wrote alongside Marcus Hinchey ( All GOOD STUFF, Come Sunday ), Thomas Bidegain ( Rust and Bone, The Sisters Brothers ) and Noé Debré ( We’re Not Animals, Dheepan ).

    Along with directing, McCarthy is producing the film alongside Steve Golin, Jonathan King, and Liza Chasin, with DreamWorks Pictures co-producing alongside Amblin Partners, Anonymous Content, Participant Media, Slow Pony, and 3dot Productions
