Gotham Knights released to tepid reviews, some of which called out its shaky technical performance. Developer WB Games Montréal seems to be aware of its technical shortcomings and has announced a few imminent and future patches in an attempt to alleviate those woes.
This Patch is meant to address general fixes such as players experiencing keyboard input issues, co-op matchmaking via invites, and stability as it relates to game crashes throughout the title. (3/7)

The Gotham Knights Twitter account tweeted out a thread speaking to these issues. The game’s PC update is out now and only has a tiny amount of fixes concerning a few small bugs. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S patches are due out later this week and will have an undisclosed “mix of needed fixes that have popped up since launch.”

These just appear to be smaller changes, but the studio is planning a more significant update that is aimed at performance. While this future patch is also coming to PC, WB Games Montréal called out the console ports, noting that it wants to “specifically [aim] to address challenges with framerate stability” on those two platforms.

Gotham Knights‘ technical concerns started before launch when it came out that the game wouldn’t have a performance mode that ran at 60 frames per second on consoles. Things got worse upon launch when users started evaluating its technical chops. Digital Foundry’s early video on the game was quite damning, showing that it had trouble keeping its 30 frames per second target. Digital Foundry’s Oliver Mackenzie even said the console performance was “unacceptable” after showing multiple inconsistencies and unfavorable comparisons with Batman: Arkham Knight. The outlet’s PC-centric video also found plenty of issues with that version, too, even with its advanced specs.
(Editor’s note: I had planned to review the game for ComingSoon, but could not get the game to run well on my PC that I built in 2019. Even on the lowest settings at 1080p, the frame rate would erratically bounce between 15 frames per second to 30 frames per second, rendering it unplayable. — Michael)
