How Monster Hunter: World is Built by Wild Hearts in Special Way

It was common to see two or three during the peak of the PlayStation 3 and Vita. Monster Hunter alternatives like Soul Sacrifice and Ragnarok Odyssey come out within a single years. Nearly everyone kept the general mission-based structure from Capcom &# 8217, s series, though many added their own twists to the established blueprint. Later on, we &# 8217, d would observe additional experimentation, such as with Omega Force and s. Toukiden 2which boldly applied the formula in a public setting. Currently firmly established in a new console generation, Omega Force &# 8217, s Wild Hearts is the initial game to advance the hunting subgenre. Monster Hunter: World In 2018, it was modernized and elevated to new heights.

The influence World has had on Wild Hearts is immediately clear to see. Many things, like the fluid motion and big explorable spots, feel a lot like WorldConsequently, you nearly feel the same way. The animation prioritizes early hunting games and provides the player with more ways to escape perilous circumstances, which serves as a solid middle ground in the action itself. A large portion of the gameplay’s inherent strategy revolves around taking advantage of enemies who overextend themselves while avoiding the same kind of intrusion yourself. Taking down monsters, also known as Kemono, is made thrilling by the constant push and pull, and learning each and # 8217,’ s intricacies is how that strategy always develops.

The main variation in this, however, are that it is far from a copy. Wild Hearts can make it challenging to fully settle in when you &# 8217, reaccustomed to the rules of Monster Hunter…. The addition of an on-the-fly crafting mechanic that resembles the one in Fortnite…………………….. The choices are quite extensive, such as boxes that players can jump on or walls that can stun a beast if they charge into it, but your ability to craft is limited to the resources you gather.

It &# 8217 was initially incredibly jarring, and my initial reaction was to simply ignore it. But because of my stubbornness, I was cutting myself shorter, so this was a huge mistake. After some early chases in which I struggled, I eventually gave up and made the decision to embrace this special mechanic and begin building like an 11-year-old attempting to win a Victory Royale. Then, as I was experiencing something much more distinctive and fascinating, Omega Force &# 8217’s game began to click. A true search should feel like I was outsmarting the hulking, dangerous animals by building structures on the fly, which adds another tactical layer and gives me that feeling.

Crafting furthermore lets players create items that enhance Wild Hearts&# 8216, exploration. Creating new fast travel spots, zip lines, and wells that extract healing water are just some of the advantages you can gain while using the game &# 8217, s coolest mechanic. It &# 8217, s a widespread mechanic that isn &# 8217, t some gimmick, and that quality strengthens the whole experience. It all adds up to provide Wild Hearts a distinct character and flavor, one that takes it far beyond being clone situation.

As with Monster Hunter, Wild Hearts truly sparkles in multiplayer. Taking down a giant beast isn &# 8217, t just more feasible when aided by other players since new strategies and ideas are brought forth when hunting cooperatively. Coming together with others to overcome the multi – step boss fights is a real joy, and it &# 8217, s helped by a pretty smooth party and matchmaking system that is unfortunately rare within the genre as Capcom has often struggled with implementing straightforward ways to play with friends( although Monster Hunter Rise was a step in the right direction ).

That being said, there are still plenty of components where World has it beat. While Wild Hearts has amazing monster styles and levels that are a pleasure to traverse, they never quite feel like a living, breathing habitat the way that Capcom was able to obtain. The largest beasts still feel like they were dropped into the locations and you don&# 8217, t really get a chance to understand how they survive. There &# 8217, s also just not many opportunities for memorable emergent gameplay moments, such as leading one giant enemy to another and just being in awe of the different gameplay systems at work and interacting with each other. With beasts that don &# 8217, t fit organically in the world and the lack interwoven systems, Wild Hearts&# 8216, world still needs some work.

Despite those small shortcomings, it &# 8217, s great to see a team other than Capcom innovating within the hunting space and offering up some true competition. Competition breeds innovation and it &# 8217, s healthy for the industry for games like Wild Hearts to offer a sustainable option during the downtime in between Monster Hunter releases for several reasons. Players get to try something new and Capcom is encouraged to push itself ahead. Monster Hunter is still the peak huntsman here, but Wild Hearts&# 8216, innovations mean that it isn &# 8217, t the only skilled beast killer in the business.
