According to Studio Ghibli Vice President Junichi Nishioka, The Boy and the Heron will no longer get Hayao Miyazaki’s final film.
The Boy and the Heron, which was formerly thought to be Miyazaki’s final film, won’t really become the Spirited Away directors’ bird song, according to a post by writer Eli Glasner, per Crunchy Roll.
Although it’s unclear if Miyazaki plans to lead a full-length film or just the short version of The Boy and the Heron, Nishioka claims that the director already has” new tips” for what he wants to do next.
The Boy and the Heron are traveling to America.
In July 2023, The Boy and the Heron was made available in Japanese venues. Prior to that, Studio Ghibli did not release any trucks, images, synopses or additional details about the film; however, the company has since released a brief teaser trailer and an ambiguous summary. It says:
“The Boy and the Heron
A boy and a young & nbsp named Mahito
a motherly passion
explores a universe where the living and the dead coexist.
Dying comes to an end it.
and career begins at a new beginning.
A story that is semi-autobiographical
about development, dying, and life,
Dedicated to connection,
from the perspective of Hayao Miyazaki”
The Boy and the Heron is produced by Toshio Suzuki and features a music score by Joe Hisaishi. It is Marking Miyazaki’s first film since the Wind Rises( 2013 ). On September 7, 2023, the film made its world debut at the Toronto International Film Festival. In the upcoming months, it will make its debut in New York.
Before going public on December 8, 2023, The Boy and the Heron did start performing in the United States with specific trailer activities. It will be made available in both English and Japanese( with English translations ).
