During ComingSoon &# 8217, s recent chat with The Boogeyman director Rob Savage, there was plenty of talk about projects old and new, including his upcoming adaptation of Scott Snyder &# 8217, s horror comic Night of the Ghoul.
A New Plague
Asked what about the comedian got his attention and made him believe it was primed for video care, Savage responded,
&# 8221, I’m a huge film buff, and I love the era of movies that he’s harkening back to the classic Universal monster movies. But I’ve often been looking for a torment film— something that’s in the artery of The Ring. Anything where you get a sense of things having been passed onto you like It Follows, and there’s a tremendous sense of anxiety and mounting dread that’s in the graphic text that comes from such an unusual position. &# 8221,
Savage feels the mixture will make for a unique movie, &# 8221, The idea of combining The Ring with this dark chapter of Hollywood history… it’s such a great way into that type of horror that I’ve never seen before, &# 8221, he says, &# 8221, We’ve got a great— I don’t know if it’s been announced who’s writing that yet— but we’ve got a great writer who’s already turned in a fantastic draft on that. But I’m excited, finally, to be shooting that some quickly when a deal’s made on the strike front. &# 8221,
In the Scott Snyder and Francesco Francavilla comic text Night of the Ghoul, A father and son look into the real story behind a huge – lost horror movie from the golden age of monster films. But as they dig deeper, they risk unleashing the very thing the supposedly destroyed drama had meant to keep invisible.
The movie will be produced by Shawn Levy, Daniel S. Levine, and Dan Cohen who were all involved in Savage &# 8217, s most recent movie The Boogeyman.
