New Pokémon Legends: Arceus Gameplay Preview Offers Best Look Yet At What This Game Actually Is

Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have released a new gameplay preview trailer for Pokémon Legends: Arceus and it’s a 13-minute look at what we’ll actually be doing in the game when it launches on January 28.  It offers the best look yet at this new take on the Pokémon formula, which is especially exciting because as of late, Nintendo has been churning out trailer after trailer showcasing essentially the same content. Not to mention, no official public hands-on previews have happened for this game so we don’t even know what playing Arceus feels like. However, today’s gameplay preview video provides some answers to a lot of the questions we had.  Click here to watch embedded media Exploration The trailer doubles down on the open-hub nature of the Hisui region, citing that each biome has different Pokémon to catch, terrain to traverse, and raw materials to gather. These raw materials can be used to craft items such as healing items, lures, smoke bombs, Poké Balls, and more, and the narrator says your Pokémon can help you find these materials too.  Wild Pokémon Different Pokémon appear based on the time of the day and weather conditions. Plus, different species have different temperaments. Some are skittish and might run away. Others are aggressive. If a Pokémon detects you, it will be in an alert state and it will deflect all Poké Balls you throw at it. In order to catch an alert Pokémon, you’ll need to battle it with one of your own.  You can distract Pokémon with things like food, too. Also, if you encounter aggressive Pokémon, they might immediately attack you and if you take too much damage, you’ll blackout and lose some of the items you were carrying.  Pokédex  As part of the Survey Corps, your job is to fill out the Pokédex. This doesn’t just consist of catching Pokémon – that will only get some of the survey report filled out. You’ll need to witness them doing certain moves or observe them at different parts of the day to learn more about the species and ultimately, complete their Pokédex entry.  Traversing The Hisui Region Because of how large the Hisui region is, you’ll have access to special “blessed” Pokémon that you can ride on. For example, you can ride Wyrdeer to navigate land faster, but you can also immediately hop onto the back of a Hisuian Braviary to fly through the skies, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire-style. Basculegion lets you skim through the rivers and seas of the Hisui region, too.  Jubilife Village Jubilife Village is the center of operations for the Galaxy Expeditions Team, which is a group of people who have set up camp in the Hisui region to learn about it and the Pokémon within. They’re made up of the Survey Corps, Security Corps, and Medical Corps. Jubilife is your home base and it’s here you’ll collect tasks and turn in completed ones. You can also purchase crafted items and clothes here, and trade Pokémon with other players here, too.  Missions and Requests Part of the gameplay loop of Arceus is completing missions and requests. The latter are small tasks to help the people of Hisui while the former is how you progress through Arceus’ story. You can use your Arc Phone in a very Sheikah Slate-way to set waypoints, map out the region, and more as well.  Battle As expected, battling in Pokémon Legends: Arceus is turn-based, like the traditional Pokémon games. However, there’s a twist in the form of different move styles. If you use an Agile-Style move, it raises the user’s action speed, which means their next move might happen sooner but the move will be weaker. Strong-Style moves, on the other hand, cause your Pokémon to sit out for a move and in return, hit stronger the next time they attack.  Alpha Pokémon will be tough to battle but easily spotted thanks to their large size and glowing red eyes. Catching them will be tough, but it will be worth it.  Customization You can customize your character with a variety of clothing items at the Clothier in Jubilife Village. As you progress through the journey of Arceus, you’ll unlock more and more items including hairstyles, shirts, pants, and more.  Noble Pokémon Noble Pokémon are special frenzied creatures that rampage across the Hisui region. They’re easy to spot, too, as they glow gold. These are essentially boss battles. Depleting their health won’t end the fight. Instead, you’ll need to throw special balms at them made of their favorite food. In between throwing balms, you’ll need to dodge its attacks to survive. At some point during the fight, the Pokémon will reveal an opening and then you can attack. Now, you have to actually defeat it in battle before you can finally catch it. The narrator promises that these will be some of the toughest battles in the entire game.  And that’s where the video ends. Pokémon Legends: Arceus will hit the Switch on January 28. While waiting for its release, catch up on some of the recently-released trailers, starting with this Pokémon Legends: Arceus trailer that introduces the Diamond and Pearl clans to the game. Watch this trailer for a better look at the environments, NPCs, and Pokémon we’ll be catching after that, and then watch this one for a better look at the crafting in the game.  Are you excited for Pokémon Legends: Arceus? Stumptown Cancelled at ABC Following Season 2 Renewal

Stumptown cancelled at ABC following Season 2 renewal After Stumptown secured a second season renewal last May, Deadline brings word that ABC has decided to reverse their decision by officially cancelling the Cobie Smulders-led action drama after one season. According to the outlet’s sources, the decision was made due to scheduling conflicts related to the production start which were caused by the ongoing pandemic. Stumptown’s studio ABC Signature is reportedly planning to shop the series to other networks or streamers. The series isn’t actually the only casualty to cancelled renewals with Netflix recently cancelling two well-received coming-of-age shows The Society and I Am Not Okay With This due to pandemic-related production issues. RELATED: New Black-ish Spinoff in Development with Laurence Fishburne & Jenifer Lewis to Star Based on the graphic novel series of the same name written by Greg Rucka and illustrated by Matthew Southworth, Stumptown will follow the story of Dex Parios, a strong, assertive, and sharp-witted army veteran with a complicated love life, gambling debt, and a brother to take care of in Portland, Oregon. Mulan Has Apparently Netted $260 Million On Disney+

Mulan has apparently netted $260 million on Disney+ With Tenet and other films struggling at the box office, Disney took a gamble and released Mulan directly to its Disney+ streaming platform where subscribers could purchase the flick for $30. As it turns out, according to Yahoo, the risk has paid off in a big way as the live-action remake has generated profits around $260 million — and that’s on the conservative side. The reveal came during the company’s latest earnings report in which Disney stated that its streaming platform had “amassed over 60 million global subscribers thus far.” Based on those numbers, 7Park’s data believes 9 million users purchased the film, or 29% of the U.S.’s 30 million users. This is obviously good news for the mouse house who gets to take home all that cash with theaters no longer in the mix; and even better news considering the flick’s tepid worldwide box office haul of just $37 million thus far. RELATED: The Christmas Chronicles 2 Teaser Sets November Release The trade also states that an app known as Sensor Tower, which researches app downloads, reported that Disney+ downloads were up 68% between Friday, September 4 and Sunday, September 6, while consumer spending on the app spiked 193%. Disney has yet to report any actual numbers, but CFO Christine McCarthy said the company is “Very pleased” with Mulan’s performance so far. Pleased enough to release upcoming flicks such as Black Widow and Soul on its streaming platform? Mulan features a celebrated international cast led by Liu Yifei (The Forbidden Kingdom, Once Upon a Time) was cast as Hua Mulan following a year-long global casting search. Joining her are Donnie Yen (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) as Commander Tung; Jason Scott Lee (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny) as Böri Khan; Yoson An (The Meg) as Cheng Honghui; with Gong Li (Memoirs of a Geisha, Raise the Red Lantern) as Xianniang and Jet Li (Shaolin Temple, Lethal Weapon 4) as the Emperor. RELATED: The Mandalorian Season 2 Trailer: “Wherever I Go, He Goes The film is directed by Niki Caro from a screenplay by Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver and Elizabeth Martin & Lauren Hynek based on the narrative poem “The Ballad of Mulan.” Mulan is now available exclusively to Disney+ subscribers with premiere access for a fee of $30.

The Flash Eyeing a March 2021 Start, Ray Fisher Offered Cameo

Ezra Miller’s The Flash eyeing a March 2021 production start According to The Wrap, Warner Bros. Pictures are planning to start production for The Flash in March 2021, which would be five years since Miller’s first DCEU debut as the scarlet speedster. However, it is understandable the said date might still potentially shift depending on the COVID-19 shooting protocols. The outlet also reported that the studio has offered Justice League star Ray Fisher a cameo role as Cyborg in the upcoming film. DCEU’s solo The Flash film has been in development since 2014 and has undergone a lot of behind-the-scenes pre-production setbacks, including director and script changes. With It director Andy Muschietti signed to helm the project, Warner Bros. has finally dated the Ezra Miller-led film for a 2022 release date. It has been confirmed that Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck will be reprising their respective versions of Bruce Wayne/Batman for the film. RELATED: James Wan Says Aquaman 2 Will Be More Serious and Grounded in Our Modern World Warner Bros. first revealed that their Flash film would be inspired by Geoff Johns and Andy Kubert’s Flashpoint comic as early as 2017. The studio even went so far as to change the movie’s title to Flashpoint. But following last month’s announcement of the film’s 2022 release date, it doesn’t sound like this is still the case. It’s probably for the best that the filmmakers are going to make changes to Johns and Kubert’s original Flashpoint arc. After all, the story has already been brought to life in animated form and in the Arrowverse. In 2013, Warner Home Video released Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox. A few years later, The CW’s The Flash aired its own version of the story during the show’s third season. With this, it makes sense that Warner Bros.’ film division would want to make something that stands out from prior adaptations. Plus, the timeline tampering could also be used a means of fixing continuity issues within the DCEU. RELATED:The Flash Season 7 Trailer, Plus More DC Movie/TV Crossovers Set to be directed by IT‘s Andy Muschietti, the Ezra Miller-led Flash movie is now scheduled to be released on July 1, 2022. Miller first portrayed the scarlet speedster in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League.

The star of Netgear’s first WiFi 6 gaming router is its software

The PlayStation 5 will support WiFi 6 upon its release this November, but it won’t mean much if gamers don’t have a router that also supports the standard. There are some good models on the market from companies like D-Link and Linksys, with great general-purpose configuration software and security features. But if you were looking for something specifically made for gaming the pickings are still slim. Today it gets a bit less sparse thanks to today’s release of Netgear’s Nitehawk Pro Gaming XR1000, its first WiFi 6 gaming router. The biggest selling points for WiFi 6 are increased throughput and lower latency, two features that are key to maintaining a smooth online gaming experience. So the XR1000 should be better thanks to its hardware alone, with speeds four times faster than older Nitehawk gaming routers and a 1.5 GHz processor keeping everything humming underneath its angular black shell. But the real appeal of the company first WiFi 6 gaming router is the software running the whole show, DUMAOS 3.0. DUMAOS has been a mainstay of Netgear routers for a while now, allowing gamers access to Quality of Service (QoS) features like allocating bandwidth by device so that their PC or console can take priority when traffic is heavy or their connection experiences hiccups. DUMAOS 3.0 takes the level of control further by allowing users to not just choose devices, but the type of traffic that’s allowed. Web, messaging and file sharing can be de-prioritized while a player is busy live streaming on Twitch, or a parent can choose to allocate the router’s bandwidth to VoIP and VPN during work hours to prevent freezing and drop-outs because their kids decided to fire up YouTube or Netflix.  Netgear That’s useful to more than just gamers, but there are also a lot of features specifically aimed at those who compete online. Players can now pull up a “heat map” of the servers from games like Call of Duty, FIFA and Fortnite and see which ones offer the lowest ping rate. DUMAOS can also keep ping rate records over time, letting you view each server’s average and make a list of the best ones. Geofencing, a feature that allows players to only connect to servers nearby, has been improved as well. Previously the system would create a circle around their physical location and only connect within that radius, but now DUMAOS 3.0 lets users draw non-circular boundaries themselves, so they can include servers that offer a faster ping despite being further away. (Servers in less populated areas tend to go under-used and may offer a better connection than one located down the street in a major city.) Netgear Other new features are focused more on the user’s connection, with speed, ping and bufferbloat tests being added. The last one, bufferbloat, allows you to test your connection when it’s under stress — uploads and downloads — versus when it’s idle. And parents will appreciate the addition of a timed traffic controller, which lets them block off applications or devices at specific times. So no Netflix during dinner or games after bedtime. You can also block off certain hardware permanently; this comes in handy with commonly-attacked devices like home automation tools, which can be locked down when you don’t need to make changes. The PS5 may not be out until November but players can get their WiFi 6 connection set up starting now, with the NPG XR1000 hitting store shelves today for a pricey $350. Sure, that’s almost as much as buying a game console, but the peace of mind where you don’t have to worry about lag might be worth it during your next match.
