CD Projekt Acquires The Molasses Flood, The Studio Behind The Flame In The Flood

CD Projekt has announced that it has acquired The Molasses Flood, the studio known for games like The Flame in the Flood and Drake Hollow.  This news comes by way of a press release from CD Projekt that says The Molasses Flood is a perfect fit for the studio group. The studio will be working on one of CD Projekt’s IP, although it will retain its own identity and won’t merge with any existing teams in CD Projekt.  “The Molasses Flood will be working in close cooperation with CD Projekt Red, but will keep their current identity and will not be merged with existing teams,” the release reads. “The studio will be working on its own ambitious project which is based on one of CD Projekt’s IPs. Details about the project will be announced in the future.”  CD Projekt specifically cites The Molasses Flood’s technological insight and experience as reasons for the acquisition. “We’re always on the lookout for teams who make games with heart,” CD Projekt president and CEO Adam Kiciński writes in the press release. “The Molasses Flood share our passion for video game development, they’re experienced, quality-oriented, and have great technological insight. I’m convinced they will bring a lot of talent and determination to the Group.”  The Molasses Flood’s studio head, Forrest Dowling, says the studio saw an incredible opportunity in becoming part of the CD Projekt group, which is also the home of CD Projekt Red, the team behind The Witcher series and Cyberpunk 2077. Dowling says The Molasses Flood’s acquisition by CD Projekt will allow the team to reach a much wider audience.  While waiting for more details on The Molasses Flood’s next project, check out Game Informer’s The Flame in the Flood review and then check out our Cyberpunk 2077 review.

Emilia Clarke-Penned Comic M.O.M.: Mother of Madness Revealed

Emilia Clarke-penned comic M.O.M.: Mother of Madness revealedAs if the four-time Emmy nominee joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Disney+’s Secret Invasion series weren’t enough, Emilia Clarke is expanding her comic book resume as Entertainment Weekly has revealed a new comic book, M.O.M.: Mother of Madness, co-authored by the Game of Thrones alum!RELATED: Emilia Clarke Enters the MCU for Disney+’s Secret Invasion!Co-written by Clarke and writer Marguerite Bennett, the three-issue Image Comics miniseries centers on Maya, a single mom who learns she possesses incredible superpowers and decides to use them to take on a secret cabal of human traffickers.“We’re always calling mothers superheroes, and I’m like, ‘What if they were? What if they legitimately were superheroes?‘” Clarke said. “Maya has had a very hard life, and she finds herself in a place where everything that makes her unique, she hates and is ashamed about. It’s only in the discovery of her powers that she finds her true acceptance of who she is.”The 34-year-old actress describes the tone of the comic similar to Rob Liefeld’s iconic Merc with a Mouth, Deadpool, with a “lot of silliness” and tongue-in-cheek humor that also explores the current feminist sensibility in “an extreme genre-bending atmosphere,” though she is keeping mum on the exact powers of her titular hero.“There’s many, many things that she can do that are pretty cool. She can do a lot of stuff at certain moments in her month,” Clarke said with a laugh. “She can do all of these wicked things, but they all come from the fact that she is a woman who has a menstrual cycle. I thought it would be cool to have all the things that women don’t like about themselves, flip that, and make those the things that make her superhuman.”In a desire to further expand the female voice in the comics world, Clarke put together an all-female creative team with co-writer Bennett, illustrator Leila Leiz, contributor Isobel Richardson and cover artist Jo Ratcliffe, while also designing the mask of Maya’s costume to be similar to the iconic balaclavas of Russian protest punk group Pussy Riot.(Photo Credit: Mike Marsland/WireImage)

Batman (Deluxe) Mini Co. DC Comics Collectible Figure – $32.00from: Sideshow Inc. Prime 1 Studios “Oh, I never really wanted to be a Lord. It wasn’t what you would call an aspiration. But when life throws you time travels, sometimes you gotta make travel-ade.” Sideshow and Prime 1 Studio are proud to present the Sengoku Joker (Deluxe Version) from Batman Ninja (Animated Film). From the top creators of Japan, Batman Ninja is a Japanese animated film directed by Junpei Mizusaki (“Opening Animation for JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Series”). Batman Ninja takes a journey across the ages as Gorilla Grodd’s time displacement machine transports many of Batman’s worst enemies to feudal Japan – along with the Dark Knight and a few of his allies. The villains take over the forms of the feudal lords that rule the divided land, with the Joker taking the lead among the warring factions. As his traditional high-tech weaponry is exhausted almost immediately, Batman must rely on his intellect and his allies including Catwoman and the extended Bat-family to restore order to the land and return to present-day Gotham City. The Statue is inspired by Takashi Okazaki’s stunning design that he created for Batman Ninja Animation. It is crafted with great attention to detail. We also believe it perfectly captures the atmosphere of feudal Japan and the characteristics of Joker. The words on the flag say Devil King Of The Sixth Heaven (Dairokuten-No-Mao/ 第六天の魔王) which is a Devil King from Buddhism. It is a great companion piece to display next to the Ninja Batman. Make sure to collect these two unique statues! Sengoku Joker (Deluxe Version) DC Comics Statue – $1,499.00from: Sideshow Inc. “Groovy!“ Sideshow and Prime 1 Studio present the 1:3 scale Ash Williams statue from Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn. Ashley Joanna Williams also known as Ash is the anti-hero protagonist of the Evil Dead series, played by Bruce Campbell, and created by director Sam Raimi. Ash is one of the few non-monster characters in the “Horror” genre to have such notoriety. He is most easily recognized based on his final iconic appearance armed with a sawed-off double barrel shotgun and a chainsaw strapped to the stump on his right arm where his hand once was. Capturing the likeness and details of Bruce Campbell, this Museum Masterline 1:3 scale statue of Ash Williams comes with an additional alternate portrait stepping on a trap door with Henrietta trying to escape from the cabin cellar floor. The Exclusive version of Ash Williams includes an extra alternate portrait. Evil Dead fans don’t miss your chance to own Ash with his infamous chainsaw and his sawed-off double barrel shotgun! Ash Williams Evil Dead II Statue – $1,499.00from: Sideshow Inc. PCS Collectibles The Satsui no Hado has long been a cautionary tale in the Street Fighter franchise, a destructive form of Ki that exploits the baser aspects of humanity, corrupting even the purest of souls. Goutetsu taught it to his student Akuma, who embraced it, and Gouken, who recognized it’s risk, refusing to train his own disciples. The more we were warned about it, the more we speculated on what would happen if a character as strong as Ryu forsook his education and let the Satsui consume him. Evil Ryu is our answer, Ryu turned inside out, the surge of murderous intent awakened. He can no longer resist the evil energy within, plunging deeper into darkness with every victory. Purged of all traces of honor and decency, this is a Ryu with a blood thirst and ritualistic belligerence bordering on a feral barbarism. Assuming this anger has made him mindless would be your last mistake, however, as Dark Ryu is perhaps the most calculating and dangerous character in the game. In Story Mode, we’ve seen Ryu flashback to his fateful fight with Sagat, how his “cheap win” still torments him. Eyes literally red with anger, he unleashed a Metsu Shoryuken so devastating it scarred Sagat’s chest. Disfiguring an opponent was anguishing enough, but what truly frightened and shamed Ryu is how much feeling that power excited him. But was it an even more pivotal moment in the franchise than we realize? Sideshow and Pop Culture Shock Collectibles are proud to present their independent 1:4 scale Evil Ryu statue, a unique sculpt created from the actual CG model, and not just a palette swap. This is Ryu stained with the blood of death, Supreme Master of the Fist, brutal and murderous, looking for the one that can defeat him. The fine artists at Pop Culture Shock have perfectly captured his menace and power, perfecting all his signature elements, from his animalistic fangs to his Akuma-like spikey inferno of hair. And of course, no Evil Ryu would be complete without the gaping crater to hell burned into his chest, or that scar on his back that looks ominously like a “Heaven” kanji. This high-quality polystone collectible features Evil Ryu in his DLC Player 2 tailored cloth costume, LEDs in the eyes, chest, and back and a screaming portrait. This collectible also has a certificate of authenticity. Evil Ryu Dark Hado Street Fighter Statue – $269.99from: Sideshow Inc. Pop Culture Shock is proud to present Oro, Street Fighter III‘s residential senjutsu master. A longtime favorite of owner Jerry Macaluso, this bizarre brawler is finally coming to life in life-like detail cast in poly-stone resin. “Oro is such a great character and he’s really underserved in terms of product that’s been made for Street Fighter,” said Mr. Macaluso, “I am glad we can help fix that.”PCS’s team of professional sculptors have outdone themselves with this statue, putting eye-popping attention-to-detail in every crease and fold of the ancient one’s anatomy. A weather-worn garment completes the look of the cave-dwelling legendary fighter. Oro is a hermit of Japanese descent who is over 140 years old, having mastered the secrets of immortality. He lives in a deep cave within the Amazon. Although he may not seem very strong, his lack of attachments has allowed him to exceed his legendary fighting skills beyond those of an ordinary person, though he does seem to have a weakness for cute girls. He attained such extraordinary abilities through the mastery of an extreme fighting style known as senjutsu (仙術?). He sets out on a journey to find a worthy successor of his secrets in order to kill time. Through the use of magic, he sealed one of his arms in order to even the odds in favor of his opponents. CS Soapbox: Why Ken Jeong Should Replace T.I. in Ant-Man 3

CS Soapbox: Why Ken Jeong Should Replace T.I. in Ant-Man 3 With 50% of all living creatures wiped out of existence, the universe needed a savior in Avengers: Endgame. Enter U Store’s (Self Storage) resident security dude, who made it possible for Ant-Man to capitalize on his return from the Quantum Realm. Scott Lang would go on to help save the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it, but not before Ken Jeong’s security guard freed him from that warehouse prison—every hero needs a sidekick.  Jeong’s Endgame appearance was part of a series of related cameos in the MCU. Before directing Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the Russo brothers worked on the NBC sitcom Community. When they were hired by Marvel Studios, they brought some Community alum along with them.  Following Danny Pudi’s cameo in The Winter Soldier, Community cameos became a sort of running joke in the MCU; everyone from Yvette Nicole Brown (also in Endgame), Donald Glover, and Jim Rash to Aaron Himelstein and DC Pierson have made an appearance (Brie Larson and Randall Park have even become recurring characters). Now, there’s an opportunity for Jeong’s security guard to become a full-fledged character in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.  RELATED: Ant-Man 3: Rapper T.I. Will Not Return For Quantumania If you haven’t heard, T.I. will not be returning alongside Paul Rudd in the threequel. The news comes amidst allegations against the rapper/actor and his wife for “sexual abuse, forced ingestion of illegal narcotics, kidnapping, false imprisonment, intimidation, assault and harassment.” T.I. was never formally announced as part of Ant-Man 3 so he may not have been a part of the film in the first place. However, it seems unlikely the writers wouldn’t want to keep the franchise’s comedic trifecta intact.  T.I. debuted alongside Scott’s friend Luis (Michael Peña) as fellow ex-con Dave. In Ant-Man and the Wasp, Scott, Luis (Michael Peña), Dave, and Kurt (David Dastmalchian) ran a security company astutely named Ex-Con. That said, if Scott’s crew is going to remain full it’ll need a new quirky character, and who better than Jeong’s inaudible security guard with an affinity for JG Ballard’s The Terminal Beach?  After “Security Guard” got Scott out of the storage cage, they presumably had some interaction offscreen. He probably told Scott about Thanos, the past five years, and maybe they even talked a little shop. After all, they’re both in the security game—which is why it makes sense for Scott, having lost Dave, to bring his new friend into the fold as a hilarious foil to Luis and Kurt. In fact, it makes so much sense, it’s probably already happening.  RELATED: Kathryn Newton Joins Ant-Man 3, Officially Subtitled Quantumania! With over 20 years of acting credits, Jeong has established comedic chemistry with pretty much everyone. We tend to associate him with belligerent characters like The Hangover’s Mr. Chow, crying “toodle-oo motherf*ckers” in an exaggerated accent. Despite limited screen time, he always seems to steal the show. From appearances in Crazy Rich Asians, Community as a tyrant hell-bent on Greendale domination, or even across from Rudd in Role Models, and working with Peña recently in Tom and Jerry, Jeong is built for larger-than-life supporting roles. However, he didn’t always have to be loud to get his point across. Sometimes all it takes is 9 seconds of silence and a Tom Selleck stache.  We took notice of Endgame’s intrepid defender of storage. So, ditch the hat and give the man a name. Since Endgame was reportedly the Russos’ last Marvel film, the move would solidify Greendale Community College’s unspoken hold over the MCU—a subtle reminder of the cinematic universe’s best entries. In Ant-Man 3 his character could be nuanced, awkward and nerdy (for lack of a better word), worthy of the science fiction he reads. A turn similar to when he donned the white coat for his sitcom Dr. Ken. With a villain as infectious as Kang the Conqueror on the horizon, a hero, or rather, a sidekick, is just what the doctor ordered.

Marvel Reveals New Stills From The Falcon and the wintertime Soldier

Marvel Reveals New Stills From The Falcon and the Winter Soldier The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’s premiere date is fast approaching, and Marvel continues to pull back the curtain on Sam and Bucky’s next adventure in the MCU. The studio (via ComicBook.com) has just released 10 new photos from the upcoming series. You can check them out for yourself in the gallery below. Not surprisingly, most of these shots highlight the title characters (sometimes together, sometimes on their own). Among these are better looks at Bucky’s new cybernetic arm, which trades in the sterling silver of previous MCU escapades in favor of a black and gold motif. We also see new stills of Sam Wilson with Captain America’s shield, one of which features him wearing a suit and tie (which, admittedly, isn’t the best outfit to practice shield-throwing with). However, other images feature some of the series’ supporting players. One shot in particular shows Sam and Bucky fighting alongside Emily VanCamp’s Sharon Carter, who returns to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time since Captain America: Civil War bowed in 2016. Additionally, there’s a new behind-the-scenes candid of Anthony Mackie, director Kari Skogland, and actress Adepero Oduye. Until now, Oduye’s role on the series has been a mystery. But the photo’s description indicates that she’s playing Sarah Wilson, Sam’s sister from the comics. Unfortunately, this new batch doesn’t include any additional shots of Daniel Brühl’s Baron Zemo or Wyatt Russell’s U.S. Agent. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier hits Disney+ on March 19. Joining them are recently confirmed Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee (Animals), and newcomer Alaqua Cox. It will also reportedly feature Black Widow‘s Florence Pugh, Tony Dalton (Better Call Saul) and Zahn McClarnon (Doctor Sleep). It will be directed by Amber Finlayson and Katie Ellwood, aka Bert and Bertie, who are best known for their work on Troop Zero, and Rhys Thomas (Staten Island Summer). Hawkeye is expected to debut in Fall 2021 on Disney+. In the comics, Bishop becomes Hawkeye after Clint Barton, and is also a member of the Young Avengers. Disney has not yet confirmed if they have plans to give Bishop her own spinoff show or have her appear in the MCU down the road, but it is certainly a possibility. Titled as Vol.1: Anchor Points, it was Kate Bishop’s first solo comic series after appearing in the Young Avengers issues. However, it’s still unknown if the said comics’ storyline would connect to the series’ plot or not.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League Trailer: The Bell’s Been Rung

Zack Snyder’s Justice League Trailer: The bell’s been rung The time has come for the arrival of the official trailer of Zack Snyder’s Justice League, highlighting the infamous director’s cut of the DC Extended Universe blockbuster with new footage of Ray Fisher’s Cyborg, Jared Leto’s Joker and more, all set to arrive on March 18. It was originally revealed at DC FanDome that the movie will release on HBO Max in 2021 by being broken up into four one-hour parts that will also be released as one four-hour film, but Snyder’s new comments seem to indicate it will solely be released as the one-off film instead of the four-part series. In an informal Q&A with the director via the comments, Snyder also revealed that there will be no after-credits scenes, the release date is still set for March even as potential competition Godzilla vs. Kong just moved to the same month and its runtime is four hours prior to the credits. Zack Snyder’s Justice League has reportedly cost around $70 million in order to properly finish the editing and visual effects of the director’s original vision, as well as the additional photography. The original post-production crew is also expected to return along with the cast members to record additional dialogue for the cut.  Fueled by the hero’s restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Justice League sees Bruce Wayne enlist the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg, and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions. Justice League, which features a screenplay from Chris Terrio from a story by Snyder and Terrio, stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta, with J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, and Amy Adams as Lois Lane. With a large budget of $300 million and a break-even point of $750 million, the film is considered a box office bomb having grossed only $658 million.
