    Exclusive Clip From Horror Film The Djinn – Who’s There?

    (Photo Credit: IFC Midnight) is excited to debut an exclusive clip from IFC Midnight’s The Djinn, which is releasing May 14 in select theaters nationwide. The horror film directed by Justin Powell and David Charbonier will also be available digitally everywhere you rent movies. It follows a 12-year-old mute boy, played by Dylan Jacobs, that performs a ritual to gain a voice. However, a djinn is now looking to collect his soul, so he must avoid it for a night.Here’s the official synopsis for The Djinn:The story follows a mute twelve-year-old, Dylan Jacobs, as he discovers a mysterious book of spells inside his new apartment. Grieving the loss of his mother, and feeling isolated from everyone except for his father, Dylan performs a ritual that promises to deliver his heart’s desire: to have a voice. But he soon discovers that every gift has a toll when a sinister djinn arrives to collect his soul. Now trapped in his new home with nowhere to hide, Dylan must find a way to survive until the stroke of midnight or pay the ultimate price.“We made this film as a testament to the spirit of independent filmmaking,” said the duo of directors. “Our story is framed in horror, but we hope that its themes of strength and survival will encourage children and adults alike to love themselves despite their perceived shortcomings.”Our clip shows Dylan making a terrifying discovery in his house as he finds a woman in his house.     Exclusive The Vigil clip from Keith Thomas’ horror-thriller debut As the film gears up for its select theatrical and digital debut, IFC Midnight has shared an exclusive clip from debuting writer/director Keith Thomas’ horror-thriller The Vigil teasing the supernatural chiller steeped in ancient Jewish lore and demonology. Low on funds and having recently left his insular religious community, Yakov reluctantly accepts an offer from his former rabbi and confidante to take on the responsibility of an overnight “shomer,” fulfilling the Jewish practice of watching over the body of a deceased community member. Shortly after arriving at the recently departed’s dilapidated house to sit the vigil, Yakov begins to realize that something is very, very wrong. The cast for the film includes Dave Davis (The Big Short, The Walking Dead), Malky Goldman (Unorthodox, God of Vengeance), Menashe Lustig (Menashe) and Lynn Cohen (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, The Affair). “This sequence comes at a pivotal moment in the film, the sort of horror movie “turning point” when our main character, Yakov, realizes that the house is no longer safe to be inside,” Thomas wrote in a statement to “And while he’s desperate to get Mrs. Litvak to join him in leaving this doomed place, she has lived there long enough to know there is no easy escape…Both Lynn Cohen and Dave Davis turn in great, tense performances in this scene, and I especially love the way Lynn breaks into that sinister and yet empathetic smile.” RELATED: Exclusive The Arbors Trailer Promises a Creepy Crawly Nightmare The Vigil, which is produced by Adam and Raphael Margules and J.D.
