Quake Receives A Fresh Update With Machine Games Providing A New Horde Mode

Quake, which was re-released for modern consoles and PC back in August, is receiving even more love from the devs at Bethesda and Wolfenstein developer Machine Games with a new mode and content added with Update 2. Out today on all platforms, Update 2 brings a host of big fixes, but most importantly, an entirely new Horde Mode. Developed by the team at Machine Games, Quakes Horde Mode pits teams of 1-4 local or online players (or bots!) against swarms of AI enemies on four brand new horde maps. Every third wave of baddies will include a boss which coughs up a silver key which can be cashed in to collect more weapons and items, bolstering your arsenal for further battles. It's a new Quake experience authored by senior level designer Christian Grawer from Machine Games. Quake is making its Epic Games Store debut today, as well. Pick it up there if EGS is your PC game launcher of choice. You can find the full contents of Update 2 here.  Are you going to squad up with friends and take on rounds of devious Quake hordes? Paramount Taps Guy Ritchie for Ministry of Warfare Ungentlemanly

Paramount taps Guy Ritchie for Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare While currently at work on his latest Jason Statham-led spy thriller Five Eyes, Guy Ritchie has already found his next project in the form of a film adaptation of Damien Lewis’ World War II history novel Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare for Paramount Pictures, according to Deadline. RELATED: Five Eyes: Behind-the-Scenes Look at Guy Ritchie’s Jason Statham-Led Spy Film The novel, published in 2016 by Quercus, explores the era of 1939 WWII when Britain was being beaten down by Germany in mainland Europe and saw Winston Churchill respond by electing to stop fighting under accepted rules of engagement and build a band of warriors who became the first secret operatives to strike behind enemy lines. Essentially Britain’s first black ops unit, members were recruited knowing they would likely not make it out alive but formed a close bond with the rest of their group and won numerous key victories against the Nazis. Click here to purchase Mario Puzo’s THE GODFATHER, CODA: The Death of Michael Corleone! Paramount Pictures’ new edit and restoration of Francis Ford Coppola’s final film in his epic Godfather trilogy features a new version of The Godfather: Part III, achieving Coppola and screenwriter Puzo’s original vision for the finale. Coppola’s masterful film adaptation of Puzo’s novel chronicles the rise and fall of the Corleone family and the saga is rightfully viewed as one of the greatest in cinematic history. Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, The Godfather: Part III was nominated for seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director. The film follows Michael Corleone (Al Pacino), now in his 60s, as he seeks to free his family from crime and find a suitable successor to his empire. Coppola and his production company American Zoetrope worked from a 4K scan of the original negative to undertake a painstaking, frame-by-frame restoration of both the new Mario Puzo’s THE GODFATHER, Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone and the original The Godfather: Part III. RELATED: CS Holiday Gift Guide Part 1: Movies & TV! In order to create the best presentation possible, Zoetrope and Paramount’s restoration team began by searching for over 50 original takes to replace lower resolution opticals in the original negative. This process took more than six months and involved sifting through 300 cartons of negative. American Zoetrope worked diligently to repair scratches, stains, and other anomalies that could not be addressed previously due to technology constraints, while enhancements were made to the original 5.1 audio mix. These thorough restoration efforts were not immune to the coronavirus pandemic: midway through the project, all work—even the search for the negative—shifted to the San Francisco Bay area and Los Angeles and was completed by Zoetrope and Paramount remotely.
