Lana Wachowski is “Going to Change the Industry Again” with Matrix 4

Lana Wachowski is “Going to Change the Industry Again” with Matrix 4 Remember all those years ago when this little movie called The Matrix came out and basically redesigned the action film? Well, come December of 2021 it seems Neo and Co. will be up to their old ways with The Matrix 4, a film that is destined to change the cinema landscape once more. At least, that’s what star Jessica Henwick told ComicBook.com in a recent interview. “There are definitely moment on set where Yahya [Abdul-Mateen II] and I look at each other and we just go, ‘Matrix 4.’ Those pinch me moments,” Henwick said. “Yeah. Lana [Wachowski] is doing some really interesting things on a technical level in the same way that you know, she created a style back then. I think she’s going to change the industry again with this film. There’s some camera rigs that I’ve never seen before that we’re using. That’s probably all I can say for that.” It’d be cool to see The Matrix back on top once more after the lackluster response to The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. Maybe the fourth film will be the one.  RELATED: The Matrix 4: Neil Patrick Harris Teases Style Shift From Original Trilogy The Matrix 4 will be featuring the return of Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss and Jada Pinkett Smith, reprising their iconic roles as Neo, Trinity and Niobe. The film will also star newcomers Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Jessica Henwick, Neil Patrick Harris, Toby Onwumere, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who is rumored to be playing young Morpheus. It was recently teased that should scheduling work out, Lambert Wilson could possibly return for The Matrix 4 as the villain the Merovingian. Plot details on the fourth live-action film in The Matrix franchise haven’t been revealed, and given the ending of 2003’s The Matrix Revolutions it’s not a clear cut answer. Last year we asked our readers if they were interested in more movies in the series, with 69% of those voting saying “Yes!” In a secondary poll, 58% said they wanted to see a continuation of the series. Looks like they’ll be getting what they wanted! The three previous films—The Matrix (1999), The Matrix Reloaded (2003) and The Matrix Revolutions (2003)—have earned more than $1.6 billion at the global box office and were all top-10 domestic hits in their respective years of release. The Matrix Revolutions was also the first film ever to release simultaneously in every major country at the same hour around the world. Originally scheduled for a May 21, 2021 release, The Matrix 4 has now been pushed back to December 22, 2021, due to the temporary production shutdown caused by the ongoing pandemic.
